2017 Ford F-150 Window Tint Removal Guide
For a 2017 Ford F-150, identify the cab and the panes needing removal before choosing tools or replacement film. Protect door controls during side-window work, inspect for glue after the peel, and assess any rear slider or heating lines separately.
Checks for your 2017 F-150
- Identify your cab: Regular Cab, SuperCab, or SuperCrew. Use the actual truck configuration when ordering; do not select SuperCrew merely because a video shows a similar front door.
- Identify the glass you are working on: front door, rear door, or back glass. Record any slider and defroster details separately before requesting rear-window work.
- Confirm there is removable film: ask an installer to distinguish applied film from the glass itself if you cannot find a film edge. Do not keep scraping because a pane remains dark.
- Inspect the existing condition: photograph film edges, scratches, seals, and any heating lines before starting. A replacement tint kit cannot repair damaged glass or a defroster.
Removal and preparation
- Watch the entire demonstration before choosing tools. Check that your door-glass arrangement matches the area you intend to work on.
- Protect adjacent trim and window controls from moisture. Follow the steamer's operating instructions and keep hands clear of steam.
- Work gradually as the film releases. Stop if it repeatedly tears or requires force; get the remaining film and adhesive assessed rather than increasing heat or pressure.
- Inspect the exposed glass and seals before fitting replacement film. Complete adhesive cleanup with products approved for the surfaces involved, following their labels.
These preparation checks are MotorPeak's editorial guidance. The video is an independent demonstration, not a Ford service procedure or a guarantee of damage-free removal. Rear glass with heating lines needs its own assessment; a successful front-door peel does not prove that rear film will release the same way.
Choose replacement tint for your cab
Our current F-150 sides-and-rear catalog includes 2017 Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew. Enter 2017 Ford F-150 and your actual cab in the vehicle/VIN field, with the rear-glass layout. Enter your front / rear film shades separately, then review the kit. Check the kit contents before assuming a rear slider or separate windshield film is included.
Choose your F-150 pre-cut tint kit
Read our Vehicle fitment and glass checks before applying the replacement. Its separate front-two kit section applies to the listed 2015–2020 SuperCrew configuration; do not transfer that listing to another cab.
Only replacing the front two windows on a 2017 SuperCrew?
The 2015–2020 SuperCrew front-two-window kit is $49.99. Select 2017 and your chosen shade on that product page. It excludes rear doors, rear cab glass, windshield and roof glass. This option applies to the SuperCrew listing; the video’s unidentified cab does not establish your truck’s fitment.
Compare front-two and sides-and-rear coverage before choosing replacement film.

Shaded Views — How to remove tint with a steamer (2017 Ford F150). The creator identifies the year and model in both the title and description. The opening demonstration shows film being peeled from a door window while a steamer is used. The video runs approximately five minutes.

Scope: cab and trim are not named in the source. This is a reference for the demonstrated door-window removal, not confirmation that every 2017 F-150 pane, cab, or rear-window option uses the same procedure. The fixed-window cutting shown later is not a recommendation to cut film over rear defroster or antenna lines.
