Mazda CX-5 Window Tint Installation Guide

Work through Mazda CX-5 installation from front door panes to the remaining door glass, fixed side panes and rear opening. Plan the cargo-area workspace before peeling the rear liner, and keep the heated pane separate from plain side-glass cleanup.

Label the CX-5’s rolling doors, cargo-side panes and liftgate piece individually. Protect the liftgate grid during preparation and use the listed 2013–2016 SUV range to check the order rather than borrowing a later-generation pattern.

Prepare Mazda CX-5 glass before applying film

The 2016 CX-5 manual prohibits sharp tools and abrasive window cleaners on the inside heated rear pane. 2016 Mazda CX-5 Owner’s Manual, Rear Window Defogger, PDF page 203.

Removing old tint first?

Read our 2016 Mazda CX-5 window tint removal guide for removal planning, manufacturer glass-care advice, and replacement-film checks. The guide clearly labels video details that are not verified for the stated model year. Prepare your Mazda CX-5 sides-and-rear tint installation by checking the vehicle details, intended windows and supplied film before use.

Use the 2013–2016 CX-5 entry

The current catalog lists the CX-5 SUV from 2013 through 2016. Enter the exact year and trim, and mention any replacement glass or modified window hardware before the order is checked. MotorPeak machine-cuts your kit for the selected vehicle details. Request a check for unlisted models, bodies, trims or modified glass.

Use the Mazda CX-5 vehicle page to confirm the selection. Keep every liner attached while matching the pieces to the actual panes. If an edge or opening does not match, photograph it and ask for help before cutting or peeling.

Apply the matched pieces and check the edges

Protect the interior from application liquid, finish cleaning the accessible glass edges and follow the installation video and installation sequence. Pre-cut film may still need shaping on curved glass. Follow the supplied curing instructions before operating windows or cleaning fresh film.

For existing film, complete the Mazda CX-5 removal checks first. Confirm windshield and roof coverage separately from a sides-and-rear order. Send your vehicle details and photos if a supplied piece or glass feature is uncertain.

Your Mazda CX-5 fitting sequence

  1. Match and clean. Lay each piece on its liner, identify its intended pane and check orientation. Remove old film and glue first. Clean accessible glass edges and seals, then protect switches and trim from liquid.
  2. Fit a front rolling window. Lower it enough to reach the top edge. Wet the inside glass and exposed adhesive as the liner separates, position the film and squeegee with overlapping passes. Raise the pane carefully to finish the lower section without folding the film.
  3. Complete the remaining sides. Use the matching rear-door pieces where fitted, then the separate fixed panes. Keep moving gaps, hinges and latches clear; do not trim an unexpected piece merely to make it fit.
  4. Shape and apply the rear piece. Dry-check curved glass with the liner attached. Shape film on the exterior when needed, using controlled heat and keeping it moving; the final adhesive installation goes on the inside. Keep sharp tools away from heater or antenna traces and leave brake-light output unobstructed.
  5. Inspect and cure. Check edges, corners and trapped solution before cleanup. Keep newly tinted windows closed for at least five days and wait at least seven days before cleaning. Cold or humid weather can extend drying; mild moisture haze can take up to three weeks to clear.

If the film bunches on curved glass, review shaping and rear-glass access. For haze, bubbles or lifted edges, use the close-up troubleshooting guide.

Choose a machine-cut MotorPeak tint kit. Estimated 7–10 days total for cutting, processing and shipping. Check your state's finished glass-and-film requirements before selecting shades.
