What Is Smart Tint for Cars? How It Works

Smart tint is a broad name for glass or film whose appearance changes with a control signal or stimulus. The MotorPeak kit uses electrically controlled PDLC privacy film applied to suitable existing glass.

How does PDLC privacy film work?

PDLC means polymer-dispersed liquid crystal. With electrical power supplied through its controller, the liquid-crystal layer allows a more transparent view. Without power, it scatters light and appears frosted or opaque. Switching privacy is different from choosing a fixed regular-tint shade.

Power off: frosted privacy. Power on: a more transparent view. These color names are not selectable regular-tint percentages.

What does the remote control change?

The supplied controls switch the film's electrical state. They do not change White film into Dark Black film or select a conventional tint percentage. You choose the film color when ordering.

What comes in a car smart tint kit?

The MotorPeak four-sheet kit includes four uncut 50 × 100 cm PET/PDLC sheets, four controller modules, one remote, connecting wires and application accessories. Choose White, Light Black or Dark Black. The buyer or installer trims the window outline.

Is it the same as electrochromic or ceramic tint?

These labels describe different products. PDLC privacy film is chosen for its transparent-to-frosted behavior. Electrochromic systems control shading using a different technology. Ceramic automotive films provide a fixed shade without a powered privacy switch. Compare the exact behavior and installation requirements before buying.

How do I choose a kit for my car?

  1. Compare the colors and both power states.
  2. Measure the intended windows and plan the sheets.
  3. Plan the electrical installation.
  4. Choose a color and kit quantity, then check out with MotorPeak.
